375. Love Canal Homes For Sale

Q: There was an spoof ad for selling homes in Love Canal as a great place to raise a family, that showed a young couple pushing their baby on a swing in a park.  The baby in the swing I think, was a toaster with doll arms and legs.

A: Carol found it: “Wrong Lampoon! This is from Harvard Lampoon’s 1981 People Parody. ‘People of Middletown Pa. Are Glowing, But Not With Health’, reads a headline over several pix of parents playing with children who have mutated into various appliances. So, not Love Canal either. Or an ad parody.”

I remember that satire ad too, and it was the National Lampoon. Please keep looking, I live near love canal and would love a copy of it

I can confirm that the Harvard Lampoon People parody fits the description in the original question (and Carol's answer), except that it's not an ad spoof.
