373. Sexual Preference Crisis Short Story

Q: I recall a quote from an old NL story about a boy who was having some sort of sexual preference crisis so he “punched out my aunt and joined the Marines” or something like that. It was probably in the late ’70s or early ’80s.

A: That was in the story “My Penis” by John Hughes in the November 1978 (“The Body”) issue. More info in the comments below. And thanks to Donna for coming up with the answer.

“After that night, he got kind of strange and he beat up a lot of people including his aunt and he's at military school now.” It’s from a story called “My Penis” (by John Hughes), about a teenage girl who wakes up one morning to discover that she has a penis. She makes her boyfriend Chuck perform fellatio on it with the same head-pushing technique he’s used on her in the past. This clearly traumatizes him, although it is played for laughs.
